Remarketing and retargeting

The difference between remarketing and retargeting.

While often used interchangeably, remarketing and retargeting are distinct strategies in digital marketing. Retargeting typically refers to displaying ads to users on websites based on their browsing behavior and cookies. Remarketing, on the other hand, primarily involves re-engaging past customers via email marketing campaigns, reminding them of abandoned carts, promotions, or previous interactions. Both strategies aim to increase conversions by maintaining communication with potential buyers. Choosing between the two depends on business goals—retargeting excels for both brand exposure and sales conversions, while remarketing can be effective for customer retention.
